Committee: Volunteer + Partnerships 

2026 - 2027 Volunteer + Partnerships Chair:

• Megan Hanson

Committee Description:

The Volunteer + Partnerships Committee is the backbone of our success in helping our PTO to thrive. Without volunteers, sponsorships, and donations, we wouldn’t be able to execute our events and provide the necessary support at HVE. Committee members are happy to approach local businesses for their support and improving our volunteer experience.  Outside of staying in communication with the board and officers, the majority of your time and effort is needed between August and October, and then again in April and May.

What to expect:

Committee members are expected to support the Committee Chair, helping with but not limited to the following:

• Foster relationship with sponsors and keep engagement yearound

  • share the impact of their donations

  • invite them to attend our community events

• Pursue donations from local businesses for use throughout the year

  • obtain gift cards and/or product donations

  • seek out businesses who will donate their time for vendor approved events

• Actively seek community volunteers and organize them for our events

  • manage start/end time 

  • check in with volunteers during shift

  • follow up engagement (thank yous and post event debrief form)

• Write thank you notes to employer matching donors 

Committee: Staff Appreciation

2026 - 2027 Staff Appreciation Chair:

Committee Description:

The HVE Staff Appreciation Committee sprinkles a little extra joy on the amazing staff at Highview Elementary. This committee is all about showing our teachers, staff, and school heroes just how much they mean to us via organizing fun and thoughtful monthly events. Whether it's setting up a colorful snack bar, delivering sweet treats or writing heartfelt notes, we aim to create memorable moments that let our educators know they are valued.  If you've got a passion for spreading positivity, a little creativity to spare,  or a willingness to lend a hand, we'd love to have you. 

What to expect:

Committee members are expected to help plan and execute events throughout the school year. We like to keep it fun and flexible! Your involvement might include:

• Idea generation and planning

• Event setup

• Shopping for supplies

• Helping with decorations

• Helping with communication to get everyone excited

Committee: Teacher Help Days

2026 - 2027 Teacher Help Days Chair:

Committee Description:

The Teacher Help Days Committee provides relief to our teachers and staff by assisting them with classroom projects.  As committee members we help facilitate project needs, ensure we have an adequate number of volunteers, and coordinate additional needs with the school and/or PTO.

What to expect:

Committee members are expected to attend the scheduled Teacher Help Days throughout the school year. Your involvement might include:

• Completing projects as requested by staff, such as: 

  • Cutting shapes and/or laminated projects

  • Setting up a bulletin board

  • Putting together booklets

  • Stapling

  • Organizing other projects and/or paperwork

Committee: Outdoor Classroom

2026 - 2027 Outdoor Classroom Chairs:

Committee Description:

The Outdoor Classroom Committee provides maintenance as needed, ideas and more to improve our outdoor classroom "Husky Hideaway." Join our committee to assist teachers and staff by enriching a space to learn outdoors. 

What to expect:

Committee members are expected to be involved as needed in watering newly planted trees or shrubs (largely spring/summer), advocating for and seeking ways to further improve this space. Previous projects have included: 

• • Coordinate with local communities to build an outdoor chalkboard

  • Order and assemble multi-purpose benches and tables

  • Set up and maintain watering bags for new plants

Committee: Back-to-School

2026 - 2027 Back-to-school Chair:

Committee Description:

The Back-to-school committee works with HVE staff to plan and carry out events leading up to the start of the school year. These historically have included the following: 

• • Kindergarten "Pops on the Playground" meet and greet

  • Answering questions and representing PTO at Open House & Assessment Days

  • Staff Welcome Back Breakfast

  • First day of school decor (coordinating signage from Card My Yard, inflatable arch for bus riders)

  • Calendar Magnets (updating, ordering, selling)

  • Stickergram notes from parents with waterbottle stickers
